Artist Statement

I work mostly in hand built vases and platters, dishes and  bowls,  using a porcelain clay,  working from slabs I roll out on a slab roller. The work is electric kiln fired.

About 10 years ago I discovered the method of Raku firing in an outdoor gas kiln. These are my sculptures with a marine theme--Seal heads-whales-
boxes and salmon.

My husband worked for Weyerhaeuser Company and each time we moved I enrolled in the nearest college for art courses. Twenty-five years ago we ended back in this area and I discovered pottery at Tacoma community College and Carlton Ball- a great instructor. I had found the medium that allowed me to sculpt, shape and paint. all in one and I never looked back.

I was with Artist-in-Action at the Puyallup Fair for 19 years
