cyntdice@aol.com Artist Statement Cynthia Dice was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and now
resides on Bainbridge Island and in the Palm Springs area. Throughout
her childhood she would bring home books from the library that revolved
around her two greatest interests: dogs and vintage advertising art.
Her collection of original paintings and greeting cards now reflect those
loves and depict everyday subjects of family, friends and pets. They are
nostalgic in feeling, reminiscent of 1940's illustrations, with a contemporary,
whimsical twist. Cynthia's familiar images with simple lines and bold colors
are often humorous and invoke sunny days and happy times.
In addition to her
cards and prints, Cynthia does commission work in which she paints a family pet
into a vintage inspired advertisement. |
