Artist Statement
Susan’s interest in jewelry began
as a small child playing dress up with her mothers rhinestones and
collecting rocks “down on the railroad tracks.” She was an avid
crafter most of her life. One day a friend suggested she take
jewelry making classes at the local community college. She did and
from the first bend of the wire, she was hooked.
The mastery of combing the raw materials of wire, stone and glass to
create an individual piece is an addictive accomplishment. She likes
to think she imparts a special feeling into each piece and therefore
creates a specific piece for a special someone.
She continues to feed her creative energies by taking classes and
experimenting with new materials, reading the many books and
magazines published on jewelry making, and by living at the top of
the world with a view of the majestic and ever changing Olympic
Mountains.
