Suzanne L. Burns

The Studio at Burns Gardens Suzanne L. Burns received her art degree from the University of Washington. She works in pencil, ink, oils, acrylics, watercolors, clay and stone. She is a member of the Verksted Gallery in the charming seaside town of Poulsbo, Washington, a member of the West Coast Stone Sculptors in Canada, and a member of the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association. Ms. Burns has been selling her work at the Verksted Gallery for almost ten years. Her whimsical birds are well known in the area and she is best recognized for her popular watercolor “WHEN I AM AN OLD BIRD I SHALL WEAR PURPLE”.
The STUDIO AT BURNS GARDENS is located on a woodsy hilltop overlooking Hood Canal. It is here, surrounded by mountains, forest, and abundant wildlife, that Ms. Burns finds inspiration to create. Her work is figurative, sometimes whimsical, often contains symbolism, and is intended to share beauty, joy, inspiration and perhaps a deep thought or two!

From a family of writers, including Daniel Defoe, Ms. Burns' first
paintings were published in 1994 in a tiny book called
GARDENS OF LIGHT.
This book was written in 1994 as the artist worked on an oil painting
by the same name. The book includes random thoughts on growing older
and better, deeper and wiser, and discovering ones' gifts along the
way. The
book includes original artwork and a matching bookmark, and has sold
over
1000 copies through the Poulsbo gallery, local art fairs, and word of
mouth. Two limited edition prints are available from this book. |
