I have been involved with textiles and fibers since childhood, learning to sew, knit and crochet form my mother and grandmother. When I discovered handweaving, I knew I had found my means of expression. The ability to create cloth, thread-by-thread and color-by-color fascinated me, and continues to do so.
I use a variety of fibers in my work, including wool, silk, cotton, rayon and Tencel. Tencel is one of my favorite fibers due to its softness and amazing ability to take dye.
My work currently explores techniques of adding color to weaving, including warp-painting and shibori. After more than 20 years of weaving fabrics for interiors and adornment, I continue to find new inspiration.
